The start of an Online journal

Although I am in IT field, I have been slow to catch on to the newest trends in the computing and the Internet world.

In 1996, I was playing Jordan Mechner's classic, the Prince of Persia (a DOS based game) when people around me were competing to find secrets in Duke Nukem 3D. My first brush with Internet was in 1997 (I think), and I opened my first email account. At that time, my friends were smart enought to be surfing what-is-not-to-be-viewed online. By the time I had grasped the meaning of MP3 some years later, people were hooked onto Napster ....

No surprise then, that its now in the winter of 2006, that I am writing my first blog.
I remember I was befuddled when I heard the word for the first time. Blog. What kind of word is that? I have maintained that there could be a Seinfeld episode around that word. Sounds like a dirty spot, reminds you of the Blob ... I later found out it stands for weB LOG.

Its not that I do not like reading and writing stuff... I have maintained a journal for quite some time, and it is this practice of maintaining it on the Internet that aroused my curiosity. It shall sound funny, but there have been afternoons whenI have thought long and ardrously over the prospect of my diaries, when I die. Shall I have them burnt - as one of my wishes in my will? Have them printed after I'm gone, maybe .... But this BLOG concept... this seemed like an interesting idea: Write, view, enjoy and destroy! Clean & environment friendly, too

I never did get any spare time to blog though. I like to think that I am a hard working, busy individual, but its probably cricket matches, and hours spent on PC games that always held me back from pouring out literal masterpieces online.

When I came to the US though, PC games became extinct from my everyday routine. Halo 2 is now my newest interest - You shall notice that my introduction to XBox comes at a time, when XBox 360 is in thing and Halo 3 is the most talked about game. Anyway, I now have less things to distract me when I sign on to my PC, so I have decided to chronicle some of my stay in the US thru this blog.
